S&P Global is hiring an Associate Software Development Engineer – Information Security in Hyderabad, India. This opportunity is ideal for software engineers and application security professionals with at least one year of experience who are passionate about secure software development, AI security, and cloud technologies.
As part of the Information Security team, you’ll work closely with engineering teams to build secure applications, automate security processes, assess AI-related risks, and help protect critical business systems from evolving cyber threats.
About the Role
As an Associate Software Development Engineer – Information Security, you’ll contribute to securing modern applications throughout the software development lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with developers to identify vulnerabilities, perform security assessments, automate security testing, and implement secure design practices across web applications, cloud services, and AI-powered systems.
This role also offers exposure to emerging AI security challenges, including securing large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and cognitive workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist engineering teams by providing practical guidance on secure software development for backend services, web applications, and cloud-based systems.
- Participate in threat modeling sessions, secure architecture reviews, and secure code reviews to identify and mitigate security risks.
- Help assess security risks associated with AI systems, including prompt injection attacks, data poisoning, insecure output handling, and other LLM-related vulnerabilities.
- Build and maintain security automation using Python and open-source security tools to integrate security testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Investigate, analyze, and help remediate vulnerabilities identified through automated security scans and manual testing.
- Support the implementation of reusable application security patterns and secure deployment practices, including sandboxing AI agents and segmenting applications based on data sensitivity.
- Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity threats, zero-day vulnerabilities, and industry best practices, including the OWASP Top 10 and OWASP Top 10 for LLMs.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 1 year of professional experience in Information Security, Application Security, or a security-focused software engineering role.
Required Skills
Programming & Automation
- Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or security tooling.
- Knowledge of Java or JavaScript/Angular is an added advantage.
Application Security
- Understanding of application security principles and secure software development.
- Familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 security risks.
- Knowledge of web applications, REST APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
AI & LLM Security
- Basic understanding of AI concepts, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, and secure AI integrations.
- Awareness of AI security risks such as prompt injection, data leakage, and privacy concerns.
Networking & Cryptography
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking.
- Knowledge of TLS/DTLS, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), certificate management, and encryption fundamentals.
