Develop software consistent with Cisco ‘Design Thinking Principles’ with a focus on simplification using secure coding practices, ensuring user privacy, and following software development best practices. Build applications that make technology accessible to people on a variety of devices. Imagine, design, and create solutions to transform how we work, live, learn and play. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.
Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools.
- Contributes to solution of straightforward business problems regarding operations, products, services or customers.
- Analyzes information, asks questions and checks for understanding using standard procedures within the job family.
- Establishes relationships and collaborates effectively with own team.
- Collaborates with others on projects and works on small-to-medium features from technical design through completion.
- Applies understanding of the software development lifecycle and how various agile engineering practices can be used in own projects (e.g., requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, acceptance testing).
- Participates in delivery of technical design features with guidance.
- May apply understanding of how related features in a product solves one or more customer needs.
- Writes functional clean code and unit tests with guidance.
- Performs parts of the coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the development process under supervision.
- Assists in code reviews and addresses code review feedback.
- Executes tests for scale, reliability and velocity within own code.
- Applies depth of knowledge in secure coding principles and reviews others’ code for compliance.
- Monitors and triages incident reports and participates in postmortems and potential on-call duties.
- Expert in one component of the codebase.
- Shares knowledge from independent learning with the team.
- Estimates time to complete assignments and communicates status, blockers, and delays to the team.
- Identifies paths to eliminate blockers and meet deadlines when needed.
- Collaborates with team members to share learnings or assist in problem solving/resolution.
Software Engineer – Networking Protocols
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering with an aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Fundamentals of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, concepts of routing, switching.
- Basics of routers, switches, network debugging tools, techniques, hands on will be a big plus.
- Fundamentals of security technologies like Firewall, IPS/IDS, VPN, Inspections, IPsec, TLS etc., Conceptual understanding of data security, threat vectors, mechanisms, actors and landscape will be a big plus.
- Strong knowledge of programming and scripting languages like python. Strong programming skills inclined towards optimization and performance.
- Familiar with more than one development environment, well-versed with at least one.
- Strong testing inclination to ensure programs are comprehensive and well tested for all use cases. Possess creative problem-solving skills and excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills.
- Experience in establishing and sustaining excellent relationships with the extended team.
Software Engineer – Application Software
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering with an aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Fundamentals of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, concepts of routing, switching.
- Strong knowledge of programming and scripting languages like python.
- Solid fundamentals of object-oriented design and programming.
- Ability to think towards scaling applications to the cloud.
- Strong testing inclination to ensure programs are comprehensive and well tested for all use cases. Hands on exposure to open source, mobile application development will be a big plus.
- Exposure to debugging application programs along with development and debugging tools. Familiar with more than one development environment, well-versed with at least one.
- Interest in User experience and User interface design and development.
- Possess creative problem-solving skills and excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills.
Software Engineer – Embedded and Systems Development
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering with an aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Strong knowledge of programming and scripting languages like python. Exposure to kernel programming, user space, system space.
- Very strong fundamentals of operating systems. Exposure to device drivers, BSPs will be a plus.
- Fundamentals of system level debugging techniques and exposure to tools used. Strong programming skills with emphasis on system programming.
