This was a costly loss for PSG, who now trail Nice in second place by one point and Monaco, who played on Sunday, by two points. With two goals and an assist, Terem Moffi contributed significantly to PSG’s 3-2 triumph against Nice in Ligue 1 on Friday, inflicting the defending champions their first defeat under new coach Louis Enrique.
Concerns for home fans are that Mbappe also scored twice, in PSG’s Champions League opener against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. PSG’s long-standing defensive vulnerabilities resurfaced, this time exploited by the clinical finishing of Nigerian striker Moffi. Moffi’s pace and range, coupled with a spectacular strike, were ideal for dismantling the struggling Nice.

Moffi added another goal for Nice from the left with a pinpoint cross to striker Gaten Laborde at the far post. Moffi put Nice ahead when, in the 21st minute, he clipped the ball past goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with a deft shot from inside the penalty area, capitalizing on some handling errors. Mbappe equalized eight minutes later with a thunderous shot from 20 meters out, beating former PSG keeper Marcin Bulka.
But Moffi secured the night’s goal in the 68th minute, preparing Laborde for a sliding finish in the 53rd minute. With his back to the goal, Moffi controlled a pass in midfield, deftly flicked the ball to the right to Laborde, and then brought his return pass together neatly in the lower left corner of the net, before celebrating with a jersey off and raised over his head. He received a yellow card for his celebration, and Mbappe, who exchanged words with him at the halfway line, was also displeased.
Forward Randal Kolo Muani was already an option and established himself in PSG’s history with a close-range finish in the 87th minute. Kolo Muani became the third most expensive signing in PSG’s history when he joined from Eintracht Frankfurt for €95 million ($101 million).
